2 Secondes

Found this intriguing Quebecois mountain bike film at I Luv Video last night, and put it on in the shop this morning. 2 Secondes is about a pro mountain bike rider who screws around for two seconds on the starting line, then loses by two seconds, and gets kicked off her team. Well, that's the opening sequence, anyway. I guess the premise is her fight back into the club. Looks cool. Like a French-Canadian, mountain-biking Rocky. Can't wait to take it home and play it with sound...

  1. Okay, so I actually watched the movie. It's not exactly as I described. Most of the story is about her post-retirement career as a messenger, and her friendship with a middle-aged ex-road racer turned mechanic, Lorenzo. And while some parts are kinda lame (and waaaaay dated), there are several beautifully-shot scenes and sequences, some innovative narrative, and a story that holds together from start till finish. (I could imagine a contemporary, fixie remake with Audrey Tautou, but she probably wouldn't want to put on enough enough muscle to play the role.)

Anyway, if you ride, definitely put it in your Netflix queue.

  2. Going to watch to get some ideas. Heck we could always remake this ourselves w/ a fixie theme.
